What the course covers
A three hour session that is fun yet information packed. It is really designed for the user that has just acquired their first digital SLR camera. In simple terms this means a camera with an interchangeable lens that you look through a viewfinder to take an image. We aim to make it as simple yet as informative as possible.
You’ll learn about the advantages of using your camera in manual mode. We’ll make sense of speed aperture and ISO for you. We’ll then spend time giving you advice on how to compose a better picture. There will be some practical exercises and an image critique will be offered..
As most Digital SLR’s now have a video function included we’ll also touch on using your digital SLR camera as a High Definition video camera. We'll give you Some real easy pointers to get you shooting video in no time at all. We'll soon be running an entire workshop dedicated to using your digital SLR as a video camera but for this course we'll just touch on the basics.
In order to get the most out of this course, It is recommended that you have your own digital SLR camera.. What you need to bringYou'll get the most out of this course if you have a digital SLR camera. If you don't have a digital SLR camera yet (usually meaning a camera that has a removable lens) then if your camera has a manual setting which allows you to control the speed and aperture then you may bring that still. If you have not bought a camera yet then you can still come along but you probably won't learn so much. COURSE DURATION : 3 HOURS (with two 15 minute breaks)Refreshments and drinks can be purchased at the bar - unfortunately because of the extremely low profit margin we're unable to include any within the course price. We certainly reccomend the menu to anyone! If youre travelling far then why not consider one of their rooms the night before or after your course! You'll receive a one hour training session on how to compose your subject and then you'll book your family in for the fun photo session at the company's studio. You'll use your own digital SLR camera so be sure to be have one before booking in, and best of all the images you get will be your own to do whatever you like with. Introduction to Digital Photography in the Studio - Beginners Course - ONE on ONE training! Requirements : Digital Camera (preferably an SLR – with removable lenses) Camera must have speed and aperture controls. This popular course is an ideal introduction to the world of digital studio photography. We will start with the basics and go through your own camera controls with you. Gauging what level you are at can be done very quickly and effectively by this method. We will go through with you on a one to one basis what makes a good image and what makes a bad image and give personal but constructive critique on any images that you may already have in your portfolio. From here we will introduce you to using studio flash lighting. We always start on a simple white background with a simple lighting set up and end up on different levels depending on your speed and ability to learn. Believe it or not it is quite possible to end up with a masterpiece through just using one light! We'll take you through each stage. Advice and demonstrations will be given as to the best / easiest / quickest way of downloading your images and getting them ready to print. By the end of the course you will be at a competent level to feel comfortable with using the studio unassisted. Please note that you will need to supply the subject to photograph! Duration of course - 4 hours £499.00 - please note if you would like to split this session with up to a maximum of one other person (2 in total) then you may do so.
Advanced Course This course is designed for those that have completed the beginners course. It deals with Advanced camera controls, shooting in raw format, advanced lighting, Portrait sessions with models and shooting using natural light such as event photography. This course also deals with how to shoot images for publication. What does a picture editor look for and how can your images stand out from everyone else's. Lighting wise we'll show you the differences between various different lighting techniques. We'll discuss with you in depth of whether you should shoot to photoshop or not and show you advanced photoshop skills. enquire about price
